Education & Training

Qualifications

  • Valid Single Subject Math Credential or Multiple Subject Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  • Three or more years of relevant teaching experience
  • Deep commitment to equitable teaching and learning, including (but not limited to): culturally responsive teaching, inclusion, anti-racist education, restorative practices, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), social-emotional learning, and data-informed instruction
  • Passion for contributing to and strengthening an exceptional middle school program
  • Experience working with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of learning needs, including English Learners, students with IEPs, academically high-achieving students, students performing below grade level, and students who have experienced trauma
Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Implement differentiated, inquiry-based math curriculum aligned to Common Core State Standards
  • Follow and adapt existing scope and sequence while maintaining continuity for students
  • Design and deliver weekly and daily lesson plans that meet diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with grade-level teammates on integrated inquiry arcs (10–12 weeks)

Student Engagement & Assessment

  • Hold high academic and socio-emotional expectations for all students, modeling equity-centered practices
  • Create, monitor, and adjust Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs)
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to support differentiated learning
  • Assess student progress using multiple measures, including formative and summative assessments
  • Use data to inform instruction and respond to student needs
  • Implement research-based classroom management strategies that support belonging and learning

Community, Culture & Collaboration

  • Teach an advisory group with a focus on socio-emotional learning
  • Foster a classroom culture that centers belonging, safety, joy, and high expectations
  • Partner with families to support student growth and strengthen home-school connections
  • Collaborate closely with grade-level teammates, learning specialists, and school leaders
  • Engage in reflection, documentation, and shared learning with colleagues
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth and continuous improvement
Compensation
  • Daily contractor rate $250 - $320 depending on credentials, degrees, and years of lead teaching experience
