We seek intern candidates who are dedicated to applying practical engineering skills and who look at this as an opportunity to learn and develop themselves while effectively working on real-world challenges. 

PA engineering interns gain exposure to product development as members of active project teams. As activities are heavily project-determined, an intern could find themselves involved in different phases of the development cycle. 

Job Description

All candidates must include a portfolio with their resume/application.

Salary: $27-$35/hr
Duration: 3 months


Typical intern activities may include: 

  • early phase conceptualization and brainstorming 

  • collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams 

  • specifying and purchasing components, materials, and supplies 

  • designing schematics and layout in Altium 

  • soldering boards and working with prototypes in the lab 

  • using lab equipment for tests and measurements 

  • troubleshooting of models/systems 

  • testing/optimization of systems for subsequent commercialization 

  • interfacing directly with vendors and potentially clients 

  • developing code in a scripting language such as Python to interface with electromechanical systems or analyze datasets 

Qualifications

Candidates for this position: 

  • are knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, including circuit theory 

  • are currently pursuing a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field and will return to an academic program at the end of the internship. 

  • are flexible, creative, adaptable, and demonstrate a desire to learn 

  • are willing to work hands-on building circuits  

  • effectively communicate their work and ideas to interdisciplinary groups 

  • are expected to be fully in-person at the location listed for this position 

 

Additional qualities we are looking for: 

  • enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in an informal work environment with minimal supervision 

  • familiarity with EE schematic and layout tools 

 

The signing of a non-disclosure agreement to maintain client confidentiality is a necessary condition of employment. 

 

Candidates are encouraged to bring a portfolio or samples of work in the form of slides and/or physical objects to their interview for review and discussion.
