The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating campaign concept designs for both print and digital media. This position works closely with the creative team and the entire Marketing Department to brainstorm and execute all aspects of various marketing campaigns promoting the JCCSF and its wide array of programming. This includes working within brand standards and making sure marketing collateral is consistent with its business goals. As part of this role, the Graphic Designer is an advocate for the whole design team to produce work that meets design best practices and is innovative that keeps up with current design trends.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design
  • Design marketing materials for various campaigns and collateral, in print and digital, to promote the key businesses within the JCCSF (Fitness, Family Life, Jewish Holidays and Learning, etc.) as well as organization-wide initiatives.
  • Present design concepts and rationale behind design decisions.
  • Work within brand guidelines and standardize and refresh design templates as necessary.
  • Work closely with program managers and web services to provide necessary assets for JCCSF website updates.
  • Ensure that all work is consistent with marketing goals for promotional campaigns and follows industry best practices.
  • Stay current with marketing and design trends. Keep up to date on relevant technology.
  • Collaborate with creative team on concepts, copy, design and production, picking up projects at any stage of development.
  • Perform file proofing and ensure high quality, through checking for errors, producing final projects that are production ready for any final delivery method.
  • Support program teams with event design concepts and experience from a participant perspective.
  • Develop innovative participant touchpoints throughout the building to drive awareness.
Other
  • Provide other administrative support to the Marketing Department and fill in for other Marketing staff as needed.
  • Participate in and promote JCCSF events and programs within and outside the Marketing Department, including periodic support on weekends or weekday evenings.
  • Act as JCCSF photographer as needed to shoot onsite and offsite events across business units.
    • Maintain photo library and share with the appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
    • Edit photos, such as cropping and retouching.
    • Edit videos, such as trimming and adding music or title/closing slides.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Design degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience working in an agency or in-house marketing or design environment.
  • Fluency in Adobe CC.
  • Adept with DSLR photography (shooting, assisting, archiving, editing).
  • Familiarity with online requirements and best practices including ads and graphics for social media and blogs.
  • Experience with file preparation for high quality commercial reproduction including offset printing and digital outputs, and online assets. Knowledge of various types of color processes and their uses including Pantone, RGB, process and HEX color.
  • Must be a skilled visual designer, with an excellent eye for color, composition, typography and imagery.
  • Experience creating a range of design and production projects for both print and web.
  • Demonstrated experience planning for and troubleshooting various production requirements including color, output, type and font usage, image resolution, formats, paper and printing methods and optimization for print and web.
  • Willingness and drive to seek out and learn new technologies, skills and marketing practices.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to speak intelligently about the JCCSF and its programs and mission, both online and off.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are typical of an office environment. A hybrid work schedule of up to 50% remote work is available, subject to program requirements and team schedules.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position requires seated or standing use of a computer throughout the day.
