Our client is an early-stage AI startup building the conversation intelligence layer for companies—starting with AI-powered meeting notes and expanding into a unified system that captures, organizes, and activates knowledge across meetings, calls, and emails.
The company is already profitable and growing rapidly, with thousands of paying customers including companies like PostHog and Browserbase. Backed by Y Combinator, the team consists of experienced operators from companies like Stripe, Twitter, and Microsoft.
With a lean team of under 10 people and ~$7M ARR, this is a rare opportunity to join a high-traction startup as the first marketing hire and define the company’s brand, growth strategy, and go-to-market motion from the ground up.
What You Will Do
- Own the entire marketing function end-to-end as the first hire
- Define and execute brand positioning, messaging, and narrative
- Drive growth through scrappy, high-impact experiments across channels
- Build and manage a content engine aligned with product launches
- Create and execute a cohesive marketing strategy across all surfaces (web, social, product)
- Turn product features and releases into compelling stories and campaigns
- Leverage AI tools to automate workflows and scale marketing impact
- Partner closely with founders on GTM strategy and product positioning
- Analyze performance metrics and optimize growth channels systematically
- Build the foundation for a scalable marketing function
Ideal Candidate Background
- 3–8 years of experience in growth, product marketing, or generalist marketing roles
- Experience owning or heavily contributing to marketing at a Seed–Series B startup
- Strong understanding of multiple growth channels (content, social, product-led, etc.)
- Proven ability to execute scrappy, high-leverage marketing initiatives
- Product-minded with strong user empathy
- Experience working in fast-paced, early-stage environments
Preferred
- Experience as first marketing hire or early marketing leader
- Strong personal brand or online presence (Twitter, LinkedIn, content, etc.)
- Experience marketing AI, developer tools, or SaaS products
- Deep familiarity with PLG (product-led growth) motions
- Strong storytelling and brand-building ability
- Experience using AI tools to build marketing systems and workflows
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $150,000 – $210,000
