Lower School STEM Teacher - Family Leave Position (Full Time)

Specific Responsibilities:

Town School is seeking a full-time Lower School STEM Teacher to work with students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. An ideal candidate would be able to promote critical thinking and problem-solving through daily activities and project-based learning experiences. There are weekly faculty and department meetings, as well as weekly lunch and recess duty obligations. Faculty are expected to take an active role in the school by contributing to committees, chaperoning field trips, and attending student performances and athletic events. 

Students at Town learn science via hands-on inquiry using frameworks from institutions such as the Exploratorium’s Inquiry Institute. Subject matter is integrated across disciplines and is grounded in the Next Generation Science Standards. In recent years, there has been greater emphasis on engineering, coding, and robotics, alongside core scientific understanding. Our Lower School STEM teachers are also technology integration leaders and, as such, are an integral part of our efforts to use age-appropriate applications and tools to advance student learning.

• The candidate will have a deep knowledge of science and a passion for engineering, coding, and robotics. 
• The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of teaching experience and experience in early childhood education. 
• A teaching credential or master's degree is preferred. 
• We thrive on collaboration. As such, the position involves working closely with four other head science teachers, head teachers in grades K-2, the Engineering Program Lead, the Director of Educational Technology, the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation, and the Head of Lower School. 
• Candidates should be strong in their use of technology tools for teaching.

Salary Information: The anticipated annual base salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of STEM Family Leave Replacement Head Teacher is $75,000 to $130,000 (prorated for the leave schedule), and is subject to years of experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as part of any final offer.
