Job Description:
The Senior Accountant will report to the Director of Accounting. The right candidate will thrive and continuously adapt to an entrepreneurial, fast paced environment, as the company expands their presence in the dynamic transportation marketplace.
Responsibilities and Duties
Record all lease and asset accounting journal entries
Maintain fixed asset, depreciation, and vehicle leasing schedules including monthly reconciliations and group reporting deliverables
Oversee accurate recording of all cash transactions by the staff accountant
Review monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
Prepare various month-end close deliverables relating to fleet, cash, liabilities and other accounts as assigned
Perform financial statement variance analysis and provide relevant explanations to management
Support in mentoring one to two staff members with a focus on productivity and efficiency
Contribute to ad hoc projects and deliverables due to the UK parent
Assist in the monthly reporting of financial information via the consolidation tool
Take an active role in the build out of the new ERP system (NetSuite) with focus on the asset and lease modules (NetGain)
Create reports within the ERP system along with providing commentary / analysis
Other tasks and responsibilities relating to the GL accounting team as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics or equivalent experience
CPA or CPA eligible preferred
Minimum of 3 years professional accounting experience with either public accounting or corporate accounting experience
Highly self-motivated and demonstrated ability to grow into additional complexity and responsibility
Excellent detail orientation, including ability to effectively operate in a high volume transactional environment
Outstanding Microsoft Office skills, especially strong Excel skills
Self-starting personality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
Thrive in a high growth, entrepreneurial environment, wearing multiple hats and adjusting priorities as the business evolves
A positive attitude, personal integrity, discretion and candor; adaptable and flexible
