About the Role 

The Senior Accountant, SEC Reporting will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely reporting of our financial information in compliance with SEC regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position is responsible for the preparation of the Company’s 10Qs and 10Ks, including drafting footnotes, and related disclosures, management of the company’s equity administration platform including maintaining the Company’s equity incentive plans and calculating stock-based compensation. Reporting to the Controller, you will work with the external auditors to ensure accurate disclosure requirements, collaborate with Legal, Investor Relations, and the accounting team to ensure alignment on reporting matters and oversee the Company's financial reporting controls. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong financial reporting experience including written communication skills necessary to draft strong disclosure that convey the Company’s operational activities. 

What You’ll Do 

Financial reporting 

  • Coordinate timing and preparation of financial statements and disclosures on Forms 10-Q, 10-K, Proxy Statements, S-8's, and S-1 or S-3 for SEC filing. 

  • Prepare the financial reporting calendar and coordinate the timing of deliverables for timing filing with the SEC.  

  • XBRL tagging and maintenance 

  • Support the Company’s 8-k's and Section 16 filing process 

  • Support the earnings release and call process, including assisting with the preparation of earnings call preparation document leveraging financial disclosures and MD&A.  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting. 

  • Review existing and proposed FASB and SEC regulations and other authoritative guidance affecting company and implementation of new accounting pronouncements and documentation of implementation strategies. 

  • Coordinates with external auditors regarding questions and comments on the Company’s SEC reporting documents. 

 

Equity Administration & Accounting  

  • Administration of the activity Company’s equity incentive plans in the equity administration platform.  

  • Preparation of stock-based compensation expense calculations.  

  • Coordinate with external vendors including valuation and equity specialists including the review of deliverables for accuracy and consistency with SEC filings and internal reports, ensuring compliance with SEC rules on non-GAAP metrics. 

  • Provides professional advice on technical accounting and equity related matters. 

  • Assist the Controller in working with external resources to develop strategies for accounting issues. 

  • Develop company positions on financial reporting and accounting issues, reviewing responses to regulatory bodies when appropriate. 

  • Stays current with innovative accounting and reporting tools and reviews alternative processes. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned (approximately 5-10% of role). 

Who you are: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Economics. 

  • Certified Public Accountant (inactive or active) 

  • Public company experience and public accounting experience (audit) 

  • 4+years previous relevant experience including: 

  • Industry experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals preferred. 

  • Meticulous with a strong attention to detail and focus on generating accurate, timely financial statements 

  • Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP and research skills  

  • Experience with Reg S-X compliance 

  • Ability to be flexible and perform in a dynamic environment  

  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel, Power Point, Workiva experience required, Certent a plus 

  • Experience drafting technical accounting memorandums
