Kennedy Jenks is excited to be adding a Senior Electrical Engineer role in any of our California office locations. This position offers a unique opportunity to join our growing team and help shape the design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, buildings, and related systems.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll work with multi-discipline teams to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions for clients in the water, wastewater, and industrial sectors. This is a chance to take on technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to projects that make a real difference in communities nationwide.
What You’ll Do:
Lead electrical engineering design for water, wastewater, and industrial infrastructure projects.
Perform power system design and studies, including load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination, and arc-flash hazard analysis.
Contribute to conceptual reports, construction plans, and CSI specifications.
Develop detailed design documentation using REVIT, CAD, and/or BIM.
Coordinate P&IDs and associated logic diagrams with electrical schematics for process equipment.
Perform calculations for voltage drop, electrical load studies, system power flow, generator sizing, fault studies, and protective device coordination.
Design lighting, fire alarm, and other electrical systems.
Review contractor submittals and provide engineered solutions to Requests for Information.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
7+ years of relevant experience, in buildings and preferably in water, wastewater, or industrial waste treatment facilities.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of CA required and ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
Experience designing and sealing medium to large electrical projects and familiarity with the full project lifecycle: planning, design (30%–100%), bidding, construction, commissioning, and testing.
Strong communication skills for collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and client meetings.
Advanced knowledge of stand-by generators and associated switchgear.
Technical expertise in MCCs, switchboards, panelboards, load calculations, diesel generators, medium- and low-voltage power systems, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, and SKM software.

Salary Range: The anticipated salary range for this position is $115,000–$165,000 annually and may vary based on education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
