DescriptionJob Title: Senior Onsite DOT Delivery Driver
Position Profile
Responsible for the safe and quality delivery, pick-up, and relocation of customer packages and mail according to customer requirements. This position requires compliance with federal DOT regulations and meeting delivery safety standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure proper receiving, sorting, and PO processing of items.
- Load and secure packages and mail in the boxed van/truck.
- Pick up mail and packages from customer pickup stops/areas.
- Deliver mail and packages to the correct delivery points.
- Maintain log books in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual).
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle reviews to ensure the van/truck is safe, clean, and compliant with DOT and state laws.
- Participate in safety programs and follow safety protocols.
- Pre-call customers when applicable.
- Provide strong customer service skills, identifying customer needs and referring calls to appropriate parties.
- Maintain professional dress appearance as per the site dress code.
- Ensure all paperwork is signed and properly processed.
- Load and off-load trucks as needed.
- Follow accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures.
- Meet productivity and quality standards as outlined by the manager.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks, as required.
- Ability to evaluate and differentiate handling of HAZMAT, perishable, and standard packages.
- Properly handle perishables, refrigeration storage, and delivery.
- Ensure items are transported within DOT requirements.
- Participate in Ricoh/Client training related to special/perishable handling.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Certifications)
Required:
- Safe driving record and history.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations.
- Must maintain a valid driverβs license in accordance with company policy.
- Ability to pass a road test.
- Valid and current medical card is required.
- Must be at least 20 years of age and properly licensed in the state of residence.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Valid commercial driverβs license (if applicable by state).
- Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS.
- Training related to the handling, identification, and distribution of special materials.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to physically handle oversized and overweight packages.
- Ability to identify at-risk behaviors and make quick corrections.
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with smart phones, tablets, and hand-held electronic technology.
- Adequate reading, math skills, and ability to write legibly.
- Certification in the operation and use of warehouse equipment (i.e., forklift, stair climber) may be required.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Working conditions could result in serious injuries if lifting, moving procedures, or road safety rules are not followed.
- Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling to service equipment at floor level.
- Physical effort required to lift mail/packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work assignments are diversified, requiring the interpretation of complex material, data, and instructions, and providing diversified information.
- Typically, work conditions include a variety of environments: office, warehouse, and van/truck with adequate lighting, ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
- Ability to work independently.
