We are currently searching for a Senior Staff AccountantΒ 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll-related functions, including but not limited to managing new hires, terminations, status changes, tax updates, wage garnishments, and payroll deductions. Ensure accurate and timely processing in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Review and verify payroll data in a timely manner, calculate overtime and other pay premiums, and enter payroll data.
  • Oversees maintenance of payroll records and files including but not limited to sick time, vacation, and other accrued leave.
  • Responds to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, child support payments, and employment verifications.
  • Apply knowledge of union agreements and labor laws to ensure compliance in payroll, benefits, and employee relations processes.
  • Review, verify, and process invoices for payment; ensure accuracy with purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies. Process payments, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers, and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger, assist with month-end closing, and prepare accounts payable reports.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, respond to inquiries, and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Collect, count, and reconcile cash deposits from various departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. Prepare daily cash reports and balance cash drawers.
  • Support and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and oversight on day-to-day tasks including accounts receivable, income audit, and daily reconciliation.
  • Prepare, analyze, and review month-end financial statements and variance analyses.
  • Perform and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and identifying discrepancies. Investigate and resolve variances to maintain integrity of account balances.
  • Support various finance and accounting projects as needed, including data analysis, reporting, and process improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address unique business needs and provide insights.

Qualifications

  • A two-year college degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, Payroll or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Preferred five years of experience in a related environment, with union experience considered a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in accounting and payroll, with the ability to produce, review, and analyze financial statements accurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, with a strong ability to use functions, formulas, and data analysis tools
