Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Surgery Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of surgical scheduling and ensuring a smooth experience for patients from consultation through surgery day and post-operative care.

No prior ophthalmology experience is required. Get paid as you train! Candidates with medical office, technical, or ophthalmology experience are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate operating room dates
  • Communicate with patients regarding surgical preparation, instructions, and expectations
  • Verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations, and review financial responsibilities
  • Work closely with our surgeons in coordination between surgical facilities (ASC/hospital) and vendors
  • Prepare and maintain accurate patient and surgical documentation
  • Ensure all pre-operative testing and clearances are completed
  • Provide excellent patient service and support throughout the surgical process

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic systems

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience in ophthalmology and/or optometry
  • Medical office or healthcare experience
  • Surgical scheduling or insurance authorization experience
  • Technical or clinical background (e.g., medical assistant, ophthalmic technician)
