Company Description

A venture-backed defense technology company is developing rugged, edge-deployed directed-energy platforms for counter-unmanned aerial systems. This is a hands-on role focused on designing and validating battery and high-voltage power electronics that move quickly from prototype to field deployment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Design high-voltage DC/DC converters, diode drivers, rectifiers, inverters, and power distribution/control circuits

  • Perform electrical simulations using SPICE or MATLAB/Simulink to optimize efficiency and reliability

  • Develop embedded and mixed-signal electronics integrating microcontrollers and FPGAs for telemetry, protection, and fault handling

  • Design and validate battery management and rapid-discharge power systems with strong thermal considerations

  • Create rugged wire harnesses and select connectors/cabling for high-power environments

  • Drive hands-on prototyping, bring-up, and environmental/vibration/shock testing

  • Conduct DFM reviews and collaborate with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and quality

  • Produce schematics, BOMs, and wiring documentation while ensuring compliance with safety and export regulations

  • Partner with mechanical, optical, and controls teams for full system integration

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in electrical or power electronics engineering (aerospace, defense, robotics, or similar)

  • Proficiency with Altium Designer, SPICE, and/or MATLAB/Simulink

  • Experience with high-voltage electronics, battery management systems, and diode driver circuits

  • Hands-on experience with rugged electronics assembly and integration

  • Familiarity with thermal management and EMI/EMC considerations

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Nice to Have

  • Experience deploying hardware in harsh or remote environments

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD specifications and export compliance

  • EMI/EMC shielding and mitigation experience

  • Active or obtainable security clearance
