SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Infusion Center Registered Nurse (RN) is part of the health care team to provide comprehensive health care for patients of the infusion center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Works closely with clinic providers to provide comprehensive health care to patients and promote the smooth operation of the Infusion Center.
· Determines that team staffing ratios are sufficient and collaborates with the Medical Director to ensure overall coverage and smooth workflow.
· Manage floor medication inventory, ordering and tracking.
· Support the Infusion Center with implementing center and regulatory protocols which encompass guidelines from the Medical Quality Assurance Committee (MQAC), clinical treatment protocols, and directives from the Medical Director and NEMS Administration.
· Shares information with the clinical team, for instance via huddles or monthly nursing meetings
· Prepares and participates in health plan and program audits.
· Be able to provide patient care such as but not limited to; taking vital signs, calculating body surface are (BSA), medication injections, collects and prepares specimens as necessary.
· Establish IV access and access PICC and Port-a-Cath.
· Participates in training of nursing staff. Identify team members’ development and training needs and ensure that training is obtained. Works with Clinic Nurse Educator, Clinic Nurse Manager, and to develop training schedule.
· Knows the scope of practice for his/her own profession and that of Medical Assistants (MAs), delegates tasks accordingly and supports the clinical team as needed.
· Provides support in managing challenging patients and situations.
· Responsible for checking the expired supplies, floor medications, emergency box and oxygen supplies and keeping logs up to date.
· Provides care management for patients who require continual care including high risk patients.
· Responsible for performing telephone and drop-in triage.
· Responsible for handling/assisting emergency response i.e. Code Blue, etc.
· Educates patients about health problems, treatment regimen, and medical procedures
· Implement medication plans as ordered by providers.
· Ensures that there is proper maintenance of medical equipment.
· Ensure that the exam rooms are prepared and fully stocked.
· Provide excellent patient service, experience and hospitality.
· Performs staffing coverage as needed.
· Performs certain office procedures as outlined in the medical clinic and nursing procedures & policies
· Participates in achieving organizational goals, both clinical and CAHPS.
· Reviews, responds, or forwards patient portal messages to ensure completion
· Actively participates in all mandatory training sessions as required.
· Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing Program.
· Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
· Current Unrestricted California Registered Nurse License.
· Completion of current ONS Certification required. Three years of experience in an infusion center preferred.
· Provide nursing care to patients as described in the Nursing Practice Act.
· Current documentation of CPR and Basic Life Support is required.
· Type at least 35 w.p.m.
· Knowledge of basic computer skills
· Must be proficient in computer usage Microsoft Office and EMR (Epic is a plus)
LANGUAGE:
· Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
· Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin), Vietnamese, Spanish and other languages may be required depending on location.
· Fluency in other languages is an asset.
STATUS:
This is an FLSA non-exempt position.
