Prep Cook

Gold Mirror Italian Restaurant, a family-owned San Francisco restaurant, is seeking a reliable, hardworking Prep Cook to join our kitchen team.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, stays organized, and enjoys preparing quality food in a busy kitchen. You’ll work closely with our chefs to complete daily prep and assist the chef during dinner service.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily prep lists accurately and efficiently.
• Wash, peel, cut, and portion vegetables and other ingredients.
• Prepare sauces, dressings, and recipe components according to the chef’s instructions.
• Assist with preparing and portioning meats, seafood, and pasta.
• Support the chef during dinner service by replenishing ingredients, assisting with cooking and plating, and keeping stations stocked and organized.
• Follow recipes and maintain consistent quality and portion sizes.
• Label, date, store, and rotate ingredients properly.
• Maintain clean, organized workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and putting away supplies.
• Communicate shortages and prep needs to the chef and support the kitchen team as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous prep cook or professional kitchen experience preferred.
• Basic knife skills and knowledge of safe food handling.
• Ability to follow recipes, take direction, and manage multiple tasks during prep and dinner service.
• Dependable, punctual, and attentive to detail.
• Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Ability to perform the physical duties of a kitchen position, with reasonable accommodation as needed.

Experience with Italian cuisine, fresh pasta, or cooking from scratch is a plus.
