Monday–Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm

This position plays a vital role in supporting Donum Dei’s mission to cultivate knowledge, wisdom, good character, and Christ-like virtue in students. As a Preschool Teacher, this team member nurtures the youngest learners through Christ-centered instruction while also guiding and supporting preschool staff, maintaining alignment with school-wide values and practices, and fostering a joyful, safe, and orderly environment that reflects the image of God in every child.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • All of the requirements within one of the following options must be met:
    • Option 1
      • 12 core semester units in early childhood education/development
      • 6 months experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child program
    • Option 2
      • 6 completed units of early childhood education
      • Enrolled in at least 2 semester units at a college until fully qualified.

Experience

Professional working experience in relevant field(s).

72 hours annually accrued at a rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked.

Annual salary paid bi monthly. Optional partial tuition credit available.

Key Responsibilities

Student Care & Support

  • Foster a warm, Christ-centered classroom atmosphere where young children feel safe, known, and valued as image-bearers of God.
  • Support children’s daily care needs, including assisting with bathroom routines, diapering as needed, handwashing, and transitions throughout the day.
  • Prepare, serve, and clean up snacks and lunch, encouraging good manners, gratitude, and age-appropriate independence.
  • Prepare children for and supervise nap or rest time, creating a calm, consistent, and peaceful environment that supports healthy rhythms.
  • Actively observe children’s behavior, social interactions, and developmental milestones, communicating observations and concerns promptly to the Preschool Lead Teacher.
  • Provide gentle guidance and redirection to support emotional regulation, peer relationships, and positive behavior.

Instructional & Classroom Support

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and daily activities that support early childhood development through play, exploration, music, stories, and hands-on learning.
  • Reinforce key learning objectives by engaging children in interactive play, storytelling, songs, and creative projects that build curiosity and joy in learning.
  • Support small group and individual activities by offering encouragement, modeling appropriate behavior, and providing individualized assistance when needed.
    Help prepare and organize instructional materials and learning centers to ensure smooth transitions and engaging lessons.

Classroom Organization & Communication

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment by assisting with setup, cleanup, sanitizing toys and surfaces, and preparing materials.
  • Support classroom routines and management by reinforcing expectations, modeling respectful behavior, and helping children follow daily schedules.
  • Assist with daily communication to parents and caregivers, sharing highlights from the day and relaying important information as directed by the Lead Teacher.
  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher and preschool team to ensure consistency, safety, and alignment with the mission and values of Donum Dei Classical Academy.
