We are rebuilding the foundation of the insurance industry through an AI-native platform. In under a year, we have reached multi-seven-figure ARR and are growing 50% month-over-month. The company is backed by Tier 1 investors and led by a team with backgrounds in top academic institutions and high-performance engineering environments. The team is currently 25 people, including 11 engineers, with plans to scale to 100 within the year.

We are hiring a Software Engineer to build and own the core technical infrastructure of an AI-native insurance platform. This is not a ticket-taking role. You will deploy to production from day one. You will create specs, define architecture, and ship features end-to-end. You are expected to operate with extreme ownership and high agency. Week one is orientation: learning the insurance domain and understanding the system. From month one onward, you are expected to independently identify what needs to be built and build it. Within a year, you should be operating at a leadership level as the team scales.

What You’ll Do
  • Ship production code from day one and fully own it
  • Build and scale core backend infrastructure
  • Design and manage databases (PostgreSQL, vector databases)
  • Architect scalable systems to support rapid platform growth
  • Write fast, production-grade backend code in Python
  • Define specs and implement features without heavy direction
  • Work directly with the founding team
  • Help hire and shape the engineering culture as the team grows

Requirements
  • 5 years of backend development experience
    (Exceptional new grads with strong internship signals are welcome)
  • Strong Python and backend fundamentals
  • Proven track record of shipping production systems quickly
  • High agency and extreme ownership mindset
  • Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco
Deep understanding of:
  • PostgreSQL
  • Vector databases
  • Scalable backend architecture
  • Cloud fluency:
  • REST / GraphQL
  • GCP or AWS
  • Docker

Nice-to-Have
  • Competitive programming background (ICPC, IOI) or research-level ML exposure
  • Experience in high-performance trading or top-tier engineering environments
  • Experience building in regulated or financial industries
  • Founding engineer or CTO experience
