POSITION: Staff Accountant II
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO: Controller
CLASSIFICATION: Regular full time, Exempt
COMPENSATION: $80,000 - $85,000 Annually 

Position Summary: 

Under supervision, is responsible for various accounting functions including accurate and timely completion of the monthly close responsibilities including general ledger account reconciliations, maintain fixed asset listing, maintain receivables, processing cash receipts, providing dependable service for cash requests, and special projects.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, track, and reconcile Association Fixed Assets in Sage Intacct Fixed Asset module. Prepare the annual 267-A Welfare Exemption forms and 571L property tax  returns.
  • Review Sage Intacct daily deposit uploads for Ticketing, Development, School and Shop.
  • Process cash receipts, including making and reconciling deposits from other departments. Follow up and resolve any discrepancies or upload errors in a timely manner. Record other cash receipts such as, but not limited to, wire transfer in.
  • Order and reconcile petty cash for all departments. Maintain, monitor and order cash banks and currency exchange cash for Box Office, Program sales and Shop during Nutcracker and Repertory season, including effectively planning cash needs. Order other cash for other departments as needed, reviewing backup for accuracy, authorization, and appropriateness.
  • Process student tuition and registration fees
  • Process internal merchandise purchases for departments and record related journal entries. Assist with month end closing adjusting entries including, but no limited to, invoice accruals, prepaid amortization entries, depreciation entries, and department reclasses.
  • Maintain the Accounts Receivable system including billing for rentals, purchases, insurance, reimbursements and other. Monitor A/R aging report and follow up with customers to collect on past due accounts in a timely manner. Reconcile A/R system to the G/L by researching and correcting any differences.
  • Perform reconciliations of various Statement of Financial Position accounts, including, but not limited to, Inventory, Prepaid Expenses, Accounts Receivable, Pledge Receivable, 401K, Accounts Payable, Deferred Revenue, and various clearing accounts. Perform monthly reconciliations of Shop and School general ledger revenue accounts to subledger detail. Assist with year-end audit as it relates to these reconciled  accounts as needed.
  • Perform reconciliations of various bank accounts for the Association’s operating accounts and short-term investments.
  • Prepares monthly department and project financial reports. Acts as the point person for department manager and volunteer inquiries about actual balances.
  • Reconcile, track and maintain media payments and accounting.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly sales tax payments and returns accurately and by government regulated deadlines. Ensure compliance with State and City regulations and accurate collection and remittance.
  • Perform other duties as required including, but not limited to promptly helping non-Finance personnel resolve questions, and other special projects, as needed.


Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 4 years general accounting experience 
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct accounting package and Tessitura development/ticketing software (preferred)
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office products

Physical Demands: 

  • 7 hours of computer work each day. Ability to sit for long periods of time. 
  • Hybrid work schedule (3 days in office requirment)
