Hear the hiring manager describe the design role and its responsibilities
We are looking for a Staff Product Designer with 6+ years of experience to join a small, high-impact design team at Laurel and help shape the future of AI-powered enterprise software. You'll be a generalist who spikes in visual design, bringing fresh ideas and strong craft to a product that's already a differentiator in a market full of legacy tools. This is Laurel's "second act" β expanding from automated timekeeping into helping professionals optimize how they spend their most valuable resource: time. You'll work alongside the Head of Design and a founding designer, with real ownership and the autonomy to ship work end-to-end. The team is intentionally small and plans to stay that way.
What will you be doing?
Own end-to-end product design paired with a PM and engineering team β equally responsible for the roadmap, pushing your own ideas forward, and shipping directly (including vibe coding prototypes and opening PRs via Claude Code)
Build and maintain Laurel's design system across Figma and code, enabling non-designers to produce great design work and scaling consistency across the product
Bring strong visual craft to complex enterprise workflows β making dashboards, configurations, and data-heavy interfaces beautiful and intuitive
Proactively fix and improve the product yourself rather than waiting for roadmap prioritization β leveraging AI tools like Claude Design and Cursor to move fast
Participate in design critique and cross-functional collaboration with a small team, bringing fresh perspectives and raising the bar for design quality
